2016 Normal Body
Histology Midterm Practical Exam

  1. This exam has two parts.  Part 1 consists of matching and multiple-choice questions accessed from ExamSoft.  Each multiple-choice or matching question has ONE best answer.

  2. Part 2 is the laboratory practical that asks you to identify structures on three virtual microscope slides.  Please make certain that you have all six (6) pages of this hardcopy.

  3. On the hardcopy, please identify the structures as specifically as possible, and justify your identifications with concise descriptions. Do NOT write an extensive and/or vague description, but rather focus on key features that distinguish the specific cell, tissue, or organ from other structures.  Change magnifications, adjust contrast when necessary, and scan around the area to get as much helpful information as possible to aid in these identifications. Use Firefox as your browser and open only ONE slide at a time to prevent your computer from freezing.  The slides can be accessed via the links below:

Slide A (WebScope) (ImageScope)

Slide B (WebScope) (ImageScope)

Slide C (WebScope) (ImageScope)

Slide A has labeled items ("A" and "B") that can either be seen at lowest power or viewed with the annotations function.

  1. You may start with either Part, and switch between the two Parts, but remember that you have until 11 AM to complete the entire exam.

  2. Please budget your time.  Part 1 is worth 42 points and Part 2 is worth 58 points (100 points total).

  3. You are not allowed to copy the exam or VM images in any way.  During this exam you are not allowed to access any other file, program, or website with your computer or other electronic device.

  4. Please write your Nameand Lab Room Number and return the hardcopy exam to Joe Cawley by 11 AM.

Note: your hardcopy is what will be scored; you do NOT need to submit this electronic form --simply close this window and the virtual microscopy window(s) when you are finished.
