Normal Body Review Material The Final Exam and Practical for Microscopic Anatomy will be Monday, December 14 from 9:10 AM to noon. The multiple choice portion of the exam will cover material from October 27th through December 2nd. The practical exam will cover all slide material presented in the course. To help you prepare for this exam, there will be a Review Lab from 10:10 to noon on Wednesday, December 9. During this lab your instructor will review material from the entire course as well as answer any questions that you have. In addition, listed below are several different tools available for individual or small group review. We do NOT want to overwhelm you, so please just use the items that are helpful for your review for the Practical Exam. We suggest that a good review exercise is to try to identify unknown organs from the resources listed below while writing down the key structural characteristics of each organ. Working with a colleague can be helpful. Ask your instructor for help if you have trouble with identifications.
(1) Aperio Review Slides: Drs. Carbrey and Velkey have compiled a list of unknown slides for each lab to work through during the scheduled review session.
(2) VM Normal Body Review Folder: A folder on the Duke webslide server entitled "Normal Body Review" contains slides of organs that are not labeled. For your convenience, these slides are listed below:
(3) 'Follow the Bolus:' a set of unknowns taken from various regions of the GI tract and associated glands.
(4) Carbrey Final Review: Short (2 page) review of all lab material, located in "Review Lab" event in BlueDocs and accessible by clicking on this link.
(5) McIntosh Review of Tubular Structures: Short (1 page) tabulation of epithelium and muscle layers of tubular structures, located in "Review Lab" event in BlueDocs and accessible by clicking on this link.
(6) Review Powerpoints and other materials: Many lab instructors have prepared study notes, reviews, or orientation images for each lab, all of which can be found on BlueDocs in each lab slot. For your convenience, they have also been collated into the drop-down menus below:
(7) "Look Alikes in Histology:" This pamphlet contains images and descriptions of organs that have similar structural features. It is available on BlueDocs in the Review Lab slot and accessible by clicking on this link.
(8) "Histology Time:"This computer atlas, which has been loaded onto your computer, contains a variety of review exercises and practice tests (Mac users should launch VMware and they will find it as part of the installed programs in Windows).
